Exploring Cognitive Neuroscience and Brain Stimulation

Master's student passionate about transcranial ultrasound research at Radboud University and Donders Institute.

About Lutz Tebbe

I am a young scientist seeking a PhD position in the field of non-invasive brain stimulation. I am looking for an opportunity to learn from cutting-edge research and to start my academic career in a stimulating environment to make my first major contribution to the field.

This is my personal outlet for anything neuroscience-related in my life. You can expect a glimpse into my brain and what I'm busy working on. If you're here because you're thinking about hiring me or you might fund my research - expect to be impressed!

Brainstimulation in Nijmegen

I am working in the lab of Dr. Lennart Verhagen at the Donders Centre of Cognition for my Master's internship. Here, I am working mainly with tUS, EEG, and MRI in a world-leading research environment.

What is Transcranial Ultrasound?

Transcranial Ultrasound (tUS) is a cutting-edge technology that allows to modulate regions deep within the brain, using targeted sound waves ...

BFTUS

For my internship, I am exploring Transcranial Focussed Ultrasound (TUS) for neuromodulation of the basal forebrain, specifically the nucleus basalis of Meynert.

Note: Photoshoot planned for January to populate my website;)

We plan to combine two transducers in an antiparallel set-up for our research. We are refining this approach to reach deeper within the basal forebrain while maintaining a relevant pressure on the target - limitations of the commonly used single transducer.

tUS with combined EEG

The main read-out parameter will be EEG data as we are refining a combined approach that allows tUS stimulation with simultaneous EEG (Electroencephalography).
